Kuchenbecker, Herbert Milton Kuchenbecker, 76, of Egg Harbor, Wisconsin died at his home with his wife at his side, in Egg Harbor early Wednesday morning ( September 1, 2010 ). He was born July 15, 1934 in Green Bay, the son of the late Allen and Myrtle (Allen) Kuchenbecker. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1952. Herb finished his education at U.W. Madison with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture in 1956. Following his college career, he was employed with A&P (Atlantic and Pacific) Cheese Company. Herb worked with our U.S. government supervising operations and building dairy plants around the world to supply our troops with dairy products. Some of the dairy locations where he lived and worked included Spain, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Taipei. He also lived for 15 years in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. In 1992 Herb moved to Vancouver, B.C. where he was the Vice President of DairyWorld Foods until his retirement. He married Maureen R. Watson on July 2, 1980 in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. They moved to Corpus Christi, Texas when Herb retired in 1995. They searched around the country to find the 'perfect place' to retire and both decided Egg Harbor was the most perfect place they could find. Herb will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. He was known as the 'Birdman of Egg Harbor' when he and his dear friend Duke Tegen began building bluebird houses and began placing some of them in meadows nearby. He built many bluebird houses for the Egg Harbor area. Being an accomplished cook, Herb loved to cook for family and friends. No matter where he lived throughout his life, Herb had a loyal and true friend in Lionel (Susan) Perkins of South Boston, Virginia. Herb was also a good sailor and loved reminiscing about his many wonderful escapades on the sailboats he had owned. He enjoyed sailing on his sailboat on Lake Michigan, the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Japan with his special friends including John (Loretta) Murphy, Gus (Joyce) Murphy, and Fred (Betty) Murphy. He is survived by his dear wife, Maureen of Egg Harbor, WI; his aunts, Bonnie Kuchenbecker and Collette Wertel both of Green Bay, WI; cousins, Harland (Lillian) Kuchenbecker of Brillion, WI, Perry (Rosie) Sylvester of Crivitz, WI and Jerry (Karen) Sylvester of Marinette, WI; as well as many dear relatives, friends, neighbors and former business associates around the world. Herb was a member of Stella Maris Parish in Egg Harbor. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. next Friday ( September 10, 2010 ) at Stella Maris Parish-Egg Harbor, WI site, with Fr. David Ruby as celebrant.
